On December 19, Tashkent`s Istiqlol Palace played host to a major children`s art event – the gala concert of Yangi avlod (New generation) Children`s Art Festival. The concert featured 613 little talents along with winners of social and grant programs of the Fund Forum, the Women`s Council and the Social Initiatives Support Fund. Also, a group of entrepreneurs were awarded grants for business development and 12 regional NGOs – for social projects. The event also unveiled the winner of the Woman of the Year National Contest, Tamara Kallykylychova of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Five rural medical posts received certificates for a free installation of alternative energy sources, and 14 women were saluted as winners of the Modern Uzbek Village Woman Contest held as part of the Project to Support Women Farmers and Entrepreneurs. The awards were presented by Professor Gulnara Karimova, the founder of the Fund Forum, the SISF, Mehr nuri Foundation and the Women`s Council, along with other famous public figures.

The long-awaited concert by a group of soloists from Moscow`s Bolshoi Theater and St. Petersburg`s Mariinsky Theater took place on December 10 at Tashkent`s Turkiston Palace. Organized under the auspices of the Fund Forum and Russia`s Ministry of Culture, the live concert by the artists of two of the world`s cultural jewels has become a dream come true for hundreds of local opera enthusiasts, including many young people who were provided with free concert tickets by the Fund Forum.

A newly built child cancer care section at the National Cancer Research Center, an effort funded by Mehr Nuri Foundation, “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association and the Women`s Council, was inaugurated on December 7 in Tashkent. The brand new facility, which has been fitted with up-to-date equipment, is able to take in twice as many children as before, for therapies and surgeries.
